THE POSITION: City Council members are chosen at-large and provide to two successive four year terms. They make $9,600 each year.

NAME: Ed Danko

AGE: 66

PROFESSION: Former TV network news producer, U.S. Navy veteran.

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Media chairman for Flagler Trump Club.

DANKO'S TOP THREE PRIORITIES: No tax increases, make Palm Coast company friendly, lower water bills/city energies.

NAME: Sims Jones

AGE: 64

PROFESSION: Retired New York City firefighter.

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Activist and community organizer. Ran unsuccessfully for City Council Seat 1 in 2016.

JONES' TOP THREE PRIORITIES: Increase business growth and hold constant or reduce the tax problem for my constituents. Reduce the city financial obligation. Increase the voice of the people … foster compromise and transparency.

NAME: Lou Salvagio

AGE: 55

OCCUPATION: Chiropractor

SALVAGIO'S TOP THREE PRIORITIES: Public safety. Lifestyle, by focusing on upkeep of our extraordinary neighborhood parks, trails, roads, and so on. City management, by building a professional company that is sustainable, responsive, professional.

1. Why are you certified to work as a city board member?

DANKO: I'm not an expert politician. I'm a problem solver which's precisely what our city requires, someone who wants to actually do the work and make choices instead of kicking the can down the road. Growing up in a family business I discovered early on the importance of making choices with a sense of seriousness and responsiveness. As a TV news producer traveling the world, I constantly made decisions while covering complicated, many times dangerous stories involving complex logistics. I will bring that decision-making ability to City Hall. I've likewise served on numerous boards of directors.

JONES: I am qualified to act as a city council member through my knowledge of the requirements of the people. I have actually devoted myself to a range of community based organizations since 2004. I have continually been focused on developing much better lives for individuals in this neighborhood through my ministerial services. Taking care of and helping others is my primary objective.

SALVAGIO: I have been a resident and entrepreneur in Palm Coast for more than 30 years. As a medical professional, I have looked after more than 5,000 clients in Palm Coast and understand what the residents of our city want. As an individual who was accountable for a large medical clinic, I know how to run an organisation, set goals and objectives, and hold personnel responsible. Likewise crucial, I understand the other council members and am confident we will collaborate.

2. What are some things the city does best? Where must it improve?

DANKO: It's clear that Palm Coast is not a business-friendly neighborhood. Over-regulation and anti-business city government attitudes and enforcement codes have hindered our regional organisations and scared future company financial investments away. Lots of businesses have been damaged by COVID-19. I will strive to support our regional services, remove the unfriendly codes and finally make our city company friendly.

JONES: The City Council needs to be absolutely restored to restore integrity.

SALVAGIO: The good: Fiscal stewardship with taxpayer money, public safety and lifestyle. Where must it enhance? Intergovernmental coordination and preparation. Partnering with the private sector to promote a service friendly neighborhood. And openness. I wish to rebuild the city government to guarantee that the entity is a top-run city. The city has actually had a lot of rogue workers doing their own thing and not being responsible. We need to restore the city government as if it were a large business. We require to foster leadership, development and ethics for our workers.

3. Should the city have gotten into business with Coastal Cloud? Why or why not?

DANKO: It is time to end the one-sided expensive relationship with Coastal Cloud. Mayor Holland's commingling of her expert job with Coastal Cloud and her political tasks to Palm Coast has actually put a “cloud” over our city that has now attracted the attention of the FBI. No one should utilize their political office to enrich themselves or their company. It's time to disconnect “Palm Coast Connect” and eliminate that cloud.

JONES: The city ought to never have entered organisation with Coastal Cloud considering that there was a very major stability issue with the choice to continue with this.

SALVAGIO: Obviously there has been a great deal of speculation in your paper and the Observer. It seems as if much of the demonstration stemmed from staff members that were dismissed or running versus the mayor. I do not put much credence in their accusations. I would need facts, not speculation. I believe the City Council's collaboration with Coastal Cloud was a good, sound decision. There may have been a few miscues along the way however that is normal in new business relationships. The software and application that the city produced with Coastal Cloud is very practical to the citizens of Palm Coast.Source: news-journalonline. com
